The Lady Jeff softball team hosted the Southern Nebraska Conference. After dominating their semifinal game in four innings with a hefty 13-0 win over Wilber, the Jeffs defeated Milford to win the SNC title.
Milford, who is rated sixth in Class C, took the lead early with a solo homerun, but it wasn’t long before Senior Claire Shumard tied the game with a solo shot out of the park.
“I think what made us so successful is playing as a team and taking it one game at a time,” Jaelle Johnson ’20 said. “We knew Milford would bring us a better game and we definitely responded well. It’s so unreal winning another championship with my teammates by my side, they’re the best I could ask for and we’ve become so close.”
The softball team will be back in action Monday, Oct. 7 for their last regular season game at Wilber. They will compete in the district tournament this Wednesday Oct. 9 and Thursday Oct. 10 here at home.

Senior Jillian Caroon comes in to pinch run during Saturday’s game against Wilber, ready to take off at anytime.
